Cheap and Affordable Adventure Racing in CaliforniaAdventure racing historically necessary teams to be of a specified size and to comprise together men and women, but many races no longer restricting team size and comprise single sex divisions. Some also comprise age based categories. The roots of adventure racing are deep and people argue the derivation of the modern adventure race. Some point to the 2 day Karrimor International Mountain Marathon, first detained in 1968 as the birth of contemporary adventure racing. The Karrimor Marathon necessary 2 person teams to traverse mountainous terrain though carrying all the supplies obligatory supporting themselves through the double-length marathon run. Adventure Racing lengths are below:- •Sprint – Typically a two to six hours race, featuring smallest steering and occasionally involving games or special tests of agility or cunning. •Twelve hours – a six to twelve hours race, featuring limited steering and orienteering. •24 hours- A race lasting between 18-30 hours, classically involving UTM bases (Universal Transverse Mercator) navigation. Often basic rope work is involved. Twenty four hour and longer races often require that competitors employ a support crew to transport gear from place to place. Other races counting the five to ten day primal Quest, do not permit support crews, with race organizer transporting gear bins to designated checkpoints for racers. •Multi Day – 36 to 48 hours race, connecting advanced navigation and route choice, sleep deprivation becomes a significant factor. •3 to 11 day race (longer race), connecting all the challenges of a multi day race, but often with extra disciplines (e.g. horse back riding, unusual paddling events, extensive mountaineering and rope work). |
